Bethany Women’s Center

Provides spectrum of services to homeless women and extremely low-income women as they move towards stable housing and maximum self-sufficiency.  Daily services include food, clothing, showers, transitional and permanent housing, mental and physical health care, and support to re-enter the workforce.

Bread for the City maintains several programs for low-income residents of Washington, DC.  These programs include food and clothing distribution; primary medical care; legal advice and representation; and comprehensive social services. All services are free of cost to eligible DC residents.  

 

Crime Victim’s Compensation (CVC)

The Crime Victims Compensation Program assists innocent victims of violent crime and their families with crime-related expenses such as funeral and burial costs, medical and mental health costs, lost wages, loss of support and services, clean up of a crime scene and, for victims of domestic violence, the cost of temporary shelter. Through the services of a victim advocate, crime victims receive assistance in filing applications; locating victim service programs, support groups, or mental health counselors; and handling quality of life issues that arise after victimization.

Services include food stamp, medical care, benefits, homeless assistance, adult protective services and teen parent project.  

 

Dinner Program for Homeless Women

Provides meals to homeless men, women and children.  Other emergency assistance includes meals and showers; laundry; mail, telephone and computer access; toiletries; vitamins; transportation tokens; clothing and information about additional resources.
